Winterlude Triathlon: Success defined in Smiles!

Congratulations to Zone3Sports, Rick Hellard and the many volunteers on their great success and organization of the the Winterlude Triathlon on February 4th, 2012.

Good Guys Tri headed out with GoPro and iPhone in hand and took in all the great efforts, wonderful energy, and seamless organization.  So many smiles and I have all the proof!  Please see the photos and video below

The day started out promptly at 8:00AM after all participants carefully laid out their T-Zones.  The temperature was perfect (-10C with beautiful sunshine) and the Canal as smooth as it gets in our crazy climate.  Lots of great activity from the Type “A” characters in the front balanced by plenty of smiles from those simply participating in a unique winter event.  Transition 1 did not disappoint, lots of activity and examples that redefined “smooth”… as well as the other side of the spectrum.

As a non-skier, I took in various techniques, wipe-outs, and then saw Dave “Smooth Like Butter” McMahon glide past me as a blur.  So many smiles and focused skiers zoomed past.  The transition from ski to run confirmed that skiing creates high lactic acid burn!  As the running legs cam back, the race was on and the excitement grew.  The one common thread was the great energy, focus and seamless event that was Winterlude Triathlon 2012.  Yet again, a wonderful event enjoyed by participants and spectators alike.  I particularly enjoyed the Canadian Flag fluttering in the wind as a backdrop to this winter adventure.

Hats off to Rick Hellard, Zone3Sports Volunteers, all participants, and all sponsors – magnificent job everyone!

Second Movie – raw footage so that more participants can see themselves and share with friends and family.
